I really don't want all of my posts to be a total bummer but another Legend has passed through. I reposted from one of the blogs that I read, this morning, before going to a job interview. Once more, I don't know what to say. We grew up with Lulu. She did so much for so many. Patron Saint to not only the Children, all people. I know you are up in heaven. Loleatta , Clair Amory, Kurt "Supermax" Hauenstein, Mick Karn, Bo Didley, Munetaka Higuchi, and Chrislo Haas have started a Super Group. Ron Hardy is producing it. God will be holding a press conference where he anounces the new groups name and tour dates inside your dreams. Here's a diddy from a sweet little 45...
... and my personal favorite. Who remembers the edit of Dreamin' that Craig Alexander and Rush used to bump, where it was flipped upside down, and every which way but loose? Will Loleatta's secret House edits see the light of day again? I am not talking about some new shit, but I am open to listen if you can bring it without being tacky or stupid. We can tell in the first 48 bars if it's weak or not...
She Hit and Run, and now we'll have to Catch You on the Rebound...

ITALO DEVIANCE: One of the best Disco voices passed away..R.I.P. L...:
As posted from "Digital Spy"
Loleatta Holloway has died at the age of 64.
According to SpinningSoul, manager Ron Richardson confirmed that the singer passed away yesterday after a brief illness.
Richardson linked to the story from his official Twitter page, adding, "RIP Loleatta Holloway". He had previously posted messages about her health and had thanked fans for their support.
Holloway started as a gospel singer before moving into soul and then disco. She was best known for hits including 'Hit and Run', Salsoul Orchestra's 'Runaway' and 'Love Sensation', which was later heavily sampled by Black Box for the first mix of their 1989 hit 'Ride On Time'.
The track was also used by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch for their 1991 single 'Good Vibrations', which credited Holloway as a featured artist.
She also performed on Dan Hartman's original version of 'Relight My Fire', which was later covered by Take That with Lulu. Holloway appeared with the band to sing her part on their 'Circus' tour and features on the live document The Greatest Day.
A number of musicians have paid tribute to Hollway on Twitter since news of her death broke.
Boy George wrote: "God rest your soul Loleatta Holloway, you were the greatest voice and I loved you! R.I.P."
DJ Gilles Peterson added: "Loleatta Holloway RIP ... a total soul and disco legend." Fellow DJ Kissy Sell Out commented: "R.I.P. Loleatta Holloway - a rare talent who held such extraordinary importance to the history & influence of house music xxxxxxx"
What a great loss for all music lovers.

Lil Louis Cassette Mix -1990
I'd originally found this buried in the Dans Etudes blog. Most people who know me know, I am a huge fan of Lil Louis and his records never leave my crate. He really used to beat it. This man was legendary, even back then, in Chicago. Diamond Corporation was the ultimate and they threw the largest parties in the city. As this tape progresses, it come to a head on side two where he really begins to beat the mix. It is purely House.
IT TOOK ME FOREVER TO GET THE LETTERS OUT OF THIS.

RADIO BEAT: The finest in Brooklyn Danzz- STACHE- COLE-PCHOP-RANDOM AT TANDEM TONIGHT!!!
Who is that dirty dude, skinny dipping in the East River? It's James. Riding hard. Feeling the groove. A man of accomplishment. Since our first time skinny dipping in the East River in 2003, he has arrived. I mean, he'd doned arrived some times ago go. (He's much more muscular today)
In the last 11 Years, as dance music really started picking picking up on the East Side of the East River, dance music was starting to emanate from Manhattans dirtier, rowdier sibling - Brooklyn, a new breed of DJ's and musicians were dumpster diving their way to the top of the game. Once, words like House, Techno, or the"thought of that kind of dance music" would make people cringe. It was only then that the proverbial pinkie finger called "Italo Disco" was starting to be inserted back into Rock and Roll's butt, late at night, after a long hiatus. Anyways, I knew I'd met a special dude when we met. I love how these magical things work, that Eight solid years later, we would share such a night such as PARTICULARLY RANDOM AT TANDEM. Where we go out of our way to give you pleasure. He made a NEW MIX to titalate your dance desires. You should hop up on this one when your putting on your spring time night duds!Tonight at RANDOM TANDEM, we have our friend COUSIN COLE in the building!!! Oh my goodness- I am listening to this nice little track of his right now... There's a gang of stuff up on his soundcloud for the House and Disco heads. We have all types up in here, hunty. I am going to also be playing some new SSPS Deaddits and tracks made just for us, tonight. I was digging around in my CD's and found one in the RED LIGHT DISCO MIX ARCHIVES from 2004. There's some heaters on it. SEE YA ON THE DANCE FLOOR!

Build Your Own Soundcloud. I did.
So, what's going on with your "internet modern musicing", these days? Are you half way sick of "your space" yet? We don't need to talk about that bullshit because I know we all are. I've been on this "Soundcloud" kick and the more I am finding out about this contraption, the more I enjoy it. It's much easier to navigate than "your space"- pages don't take ten years to load because there is no bullshit ass content to load. I'd been sitting on this one for a second. I am even starting too see some old friends popping around. It will be interesting to see how Soundcloud develops. As an all around music/art dude, this is the joint. I put out an EP out while I was uploading some sounds from the cassette tape archives...

Gang Gang Dance - Glass Jar
From the first time that I'd seen them with Challenge of the Future at the Cooler, again, I am continually amazed with their progress. Musically- we are still living in exciting times.
Peter Gordon & The Love Of Life Orchestra - Beginning Of The Heartbreak (Prince Language's Downtown Cosmic Edit)
Prince Language and the magic he can makes as a producer, re-mixer, and DJ is truly amazing. I am a blessed man to have come up with this guy, listening and dancing to his Funky Stop from his (and my's) humble beginnings in the dirty warehouse's and house parties of the early 90's arty/ funky/ housey/ jazzy funky Chicago. We both really owe our credit to Jeremy "Sole" Ross, for putting us on. They have both made names for themselves with in the music world and I just love seeing when they snap off on a solid production! This dude snapped. It has got to be a must for any modern day "cosmic" fan looking for new cosmic atmospheres that can invoke that timeless future like jazz space we all love dancing too... And Peter Gordon, the man remixed? He needs no introduction... or does he? He is a builder, that bridges the gaps between all that is formal with these casual sensibilities that make "Downtown Music" what it is. Worldly. Classical. Jazz. Soundtrack to the Future Reality. Funky. Raw. An edge so sharp... the very blade that splice together records of seemingly different genres. This is purely from a DJ's standpoint. This is him in 1977... it could be 2113...
