Europe by Blog Part One: CZ Republic and the Creepy Teepee
It has been a second since I was last able to rappitate with you all. Since July, I have been to Europe with my numero uno P.I.C.(Partner in Crime) - Jerk Party, came back to the USA, got in a truck and drove from Brooklyn, to Houston Tx.- around to Naples Fl.- across to Miami- raced Irene back to Brooklyn- went to the Midwest- around to the Northeast, Montreal and Toronto. I have been home since Saturday. So far, this is the longest I've been home since then. Lets start in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic...
After arriving in Berlin, we pretty much got on a train and went directly to Prague. We were meet by Rado. He's the man, you see. Us three, then drove out to Creepy Teepee, where I ended up blowing out the electricity for the entire stage lights, sound everything- three times. Considering it was my birthday, it was my latest version of blowing out the candles. Thanks to Drugs for Drunks (from Mexico City)and their one 110V power strip, I was able to plug about 3/4 of my equipment drag my way through a set. While I was not satisfied with the performance, the crowd thought otherwise! After lengthy discussions with the engineers, we worked it out best the best way we could, given the circumstances. It would ultimately be the "US Power strip" with a special surge protector, purchased from Radio Shack that was supposed to be safe with the 500Watt step up/down electricity converter that I'd purchased for the trip. It worked the night before in Berlin in this Woman's kitchen. More on Germany, later. Anyways, I would plug the power strip in to the converter. every thing is turned off. Nothing is plugged into anything. Plug in the turned off power strip and POOF! All of the fucking lights are out. What the fuuuuck? After 3 times of the same thing, on my Birthday no less- the other band that had happened to have an American power strip
- Drugs for Drunks (hailing from Mexico City) lent me their strip, and I was able to plug in part of my stuff and play a sound check and live set with what I had. I was glad that it turned out okay. It has become sort of crazy to travel with electronics, using public transportation. One of my original positive sides for moving into the world of electronics, was because it was so mobile- ie: I could ride my bicycle too shows with my gear in my bag. It was nothing like trying to haul around an Ampeg 8/10 and a bass to shows with guitars, drums, amp's and such. Follow an interest with an open ear and see where it takes you. May your interest become a passion. May that passion take you too new and exciting places in your mind. Feel those sensations associated with transcendence and goodness.
Droogs For Droonks
The next day we went sightseeing. Kutna Hora is quite old. The mid evil city planners must have been completely crazy. We got so lost.
Every generation has their own "Screamers."
... and who doesn't enjoy some good ol'yabbo graffiti?
More on that, later. Back to you- Blog...
After being lost for about two and a half hours, accidentally ending up at the hotel, we hooked up with those two zany children- Shannon and Bruno (from that Brooklyn outfit- Light Asylum) we decided on taking a cab to the "Bone Church." There was this interactive sculpture that was being installed in the center of town over the course of the morning. I jokingly told Erica that it was the Gallows.
Detail
After accidentally walking back to our Hotel, trying to find this "Bone Church" after an hour and a half, we were very frustrated. Europe's cobblestone sidewalks are no joke. Us American's are spoiled by the little things, like the cement sidewalks. Holy shit did the travel rig get shaken to almighty shit. I could have honestly made a commercial for Gator Cases. Anyways, we get back too our hotel and a van pulls up with R.Stevie Moore and Light Asylum. After meeting with these folks and some nap time, we took a cab to the fabled "Bone Church."
The Bone Church is real.

... Oct. 14, 2011- I wanted to type more but have been incredibly busy so I am publishing this one unfinished. Stay tuned for Part Two- Berlin... So long y'all!!!

SSPS TO PLAY CZECH REPUBLIC: CREEPY TEEPEE 2011
It has been confirmed that SSPS will be making it's first trip to Europe too play shows in The Czech Republic and Germany. Of course, I'll keep you updated on the progression as it draws closer. As it stands, the first show is going too be on the 28 July, 2011 in KUNTA HORA, CZECH PERUBLIC at the 3rd edition of the CREEPY TEEPEE Independent Music Festival, curated by A.M.180 Crew.
The festival is taking place at the Galerie Středočeského kraje - GASK / Czech Museum of Fine Arts. The festivities are taking place From the 28TH through the 31ST of July, 2011. SSPS Plays on the first night, which also happens too be my birthday. I hope that I am going to be able too bring my guitar. It will only fit in one of those "Coffins" which are huge, and I was planning on packing the electronics in it. The Six Stringed Guitar, being a new element in SSPS might be expendable. I am going to try and bring it though. It is so fun too play, this Guitar. After all of these years playing bass, why did I wait so long? When the time is right, it happens. It just happens. The instruments choose you. I am planning on traveling with as little as possible. I have been readjusting my live rig for international travel. I'm going to mash it up, seen?
I found a video of my friends band- Terrible Eagle at Creepy Teepee 2010.
...and a couple of other things that caught my eye...
Because of expenses associated with this trip, I must postpone the limited edition 100 records. I will be going ahead with the CDR's though. I have too get cracking on the art work. I'll be travelling with cassettes and CDR's from both- EXCEPTER and SSPS. I am sorry, but I am out of the split LED ER EST/SSPS split 7 inchs. I got a couple of trips going down at work, so it is going too be a busy month! Damn, a truckers life is hard. I'll be in Chicago for a jaunt but, it's gonna be extremely busy. In and out. Then I am off too Florida. When I return there will be a special "LEO" edition of Particularly Random. THen Europe. more later when I can fill you in on all of the Juicy details concerning Germany and the shows...
Cha Cha Ciao,

OTR Again...
It was even better to see a long lost brother from the Hard Core days!
I like going into the strange bars, where I am the odd man out, trying to initiate conversations with people who don't trust you. I don't even need to try to mess with people. I just am. In a lot of these redneck bars I walk into, I defy the stereotype of both truck drivers, and black people. I defy black stereotypes to the few black people that I encounter in these places. Drugs seem so much nastier in the country than in the city. The absence of any kind of middle class is a mind fuck for any Carpetbagger that comes to the South. There is only rich and poor, black and white, in the country, when you are in a bar. This is my experience, and mine alone. I have the SSPS Power Drone with me and have been recording my musical experiences from various locations in this great land of ours.
SSPS makes it's return to NYC this Friday when the Private Sector plays live in commemoration of the new "SKY PLANE FIELD ROAD" CDR, self released on AVANT GOD with all new songs- at Wreck Room in Brooklyn, NY. The show is free and is located at 940 Flushing in beautiful Bushwick.I'm back on the Blog, so as Buddy says- "I'll smell ya later!"
Cha Cha Ciao!!!

LOLEATTA HALLOWAY PASSES ON...
... and my personal favorite. Who remembers the edit of Dreamin' that Craig Alexander and Rush used to bump, where it was flipped upside down, and every which way but loose? Will Loleatta's secret House edits see the light of day again? I am not talking about some new shit, but I am open to listen if you can bring it without being tacky or stupid. We can tell in the first 48 bars if it's weak or not...
She Hit and Run, and now we'll have to Catch You on the Rebound...
ITALO DEVIANCE: One of the best Disco voices passed away..R.I.P. L...
As posted from "Digital Spy"
Loleatta Holloway has died at the age of 64.
According to SpinningSoul, manager Ron Richardson confirmed that the singer passed away yesterday after a brief illness.
Richardson linked to the story from his official Twitter page, adding, "RIP Loleatta Holloway". He had previously posted messages about her health and had thanked fans for their support.
Holloway started as a gospel singer before moving into soul and then disco. She was best known for hits including 'Hit and Run', Salsoul Orchestra's 'Runaway' and 'Love Sensation', which was later heavily sampled by Black Box for the first mix of their 1989 hit 'Ride On Time'.
The track was also used by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch for their 1991 single 'Good Vibrations', which credited Holloway as a featured artist.
She also performed on Dan Hartman's original version of 'Relight My Fire', which was later covered by Take That with Lulu. Holloway appeared with the band to sing her part on their 'Circus' tour and features on the live document The Greatest Day.
A number of musicians have paid tribute to Hollway on Twitter since news of her death broke.
Boy George wrote: "God rest your soul Loleatta Holloway, you were the greatest voice and I loved you! R.I.P."
DJ Gilles Peterson added: "Loleatta Holloway RIP ... a total soul and disco legend." Fellow DJ Kissy Sell Out commented: "R.I.P. Loleatta Holloway - a rare talent who held such extraordinary importance to the history & influence of house music xxxxxxx"
What a great loss for all music lovers.

RADIO BEAT: The finest in Brooklyn Danzz- STACHE- COLE-PCHOP-RANDOM AT TANDEM TONIGHT!!!
In the last 11 Years, as dance music really started picking picking up on the East Side of the East River, dance music was starting to emanate from Manhattans dirtier, rowdier sibling - Brooklyn, a new breed of DJ's and musicians were dumpster diving their way to the top of the game. Once, words like House, Techno, or the"thought of that kind of dance music" would make people cringe. It was only then that the proverbial pinkie finger called "Italo Disco" was starting to be inserted back into Rock and Roll's butt, late at night, after a long hiatus. Anyways, I knew I'd met a special dude when we met. I love how these magical things work, that Eight solid years later, we would share such a night such as PARTICULARLY RANDOM AT TANDEM. Where we go out of our way to give you pleasure. He made a NEW MIX to titalate your dance desires. You should hop up on this one when your putting on your spring time night duds!Tonight at RANDOM TANDEM, we have our friend COUSIN COLE in the building!!! Oh my goodness- I am listening to this nice little track of his right now... There's a gang of stuff up on his soundcloud for the House and Disco heads. We have all types up in here, hunty. I am going to also be playing some new SSPS Deaddits and tracks made just for us, tonight. I was digging around in my CD's and found one in the RED LIGHT DISCO MIX ARCHIVES from 2004. There's some heaters on it. SEE YA ON THE DANCE FLOOR!

CLARE AMORY 1975-2011
CLARE AT THE LIBERTY INN- Chicago Il. 2009
Being in this Excepter is a crazy thing. Excepter existed at a time before Clare, Lala, Nathan, and me were on the roster. I have fond memories of standing next to these people watching it happen. If you would have asked any of us in 2002, before "KA" came out, that we'd one by one be bought into the cipher to experience the Excepter from the other side of the window... I don't know what I am even getting at... the deep friendships that are created through spending time with one another, playing music, becoming a family- in a sense I've lost a sister. We all have. It is going to be a difficult blow to recover from- Losing our (physical) Clare. Being in a band with two couples is the craziest experience I've ever had playing music.
Excepter is the only time where I never felt bad being a "third wheel" as they say. I was so excited to play Bass Guitar again (after a self imposed six year hiatus) when I knew that Clare would be backing me up on the (digital) skins. It was just the best time- playing music with her. Talking about movies. Hanging out, cooking dinner. Paling around. She was so g#ddamned funny.
AAARGH!!!
NATHAN AND CLARE WITH KSTARKE'S TB303- CHICAGO Il 2009
CLARE WITH ARIEL AND NATHAN- LA 2008
I miss you so much, already. We all do. It all happened so fast.
EARLIER IN THE DAY
CHILLING
Lets do ourselves a solid and send out some positive energy for the Amory and Corbin families. Let's hope that the future can one days give us some answers about this mysterious bitch called Cancer.
I was so privileged to have been able to spend the time with you that I did. I will never forget you and you will live forever! Your "Flesh and Bone" will continue to help others, as did your music, and love. I love you.
